Job Summary:

Responsible for developing initiatives and managing strategies to attract high caliber physician talent.  Works closely with CEO and Vice-President of Physician Services to implement initiatives and insure compliance related to physician recruitment.


General Responsibilities:

  • Identifies physician candidates for recruitment with the direction given by CEO and/or Senior Management, in support of meeting the business goals of the Hospital’s Strategic Plan.
  • Prospects physician candidates utilizing tools such as cold calling databases, and usage of Ardent approved Recruitment firms, and internet searches.
  • During recruitment activities, promptly provides prospective physician candidates with information regarding Hospital, our community, and service area.
  • Demonstrates accountability for the physician recruitment process from the initial contact to closure in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Matches physician candidates with current opportunities; completes thorough screening and reviews qualifications to establish potential suitability/organizational fit.
  • Provides timely information to Hospital directors prior to on-site visits of physician candidates; coordinates site interview itinerary with Administration, for hospital interview, and community and real estate tour.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and availability to scheduling physician candidate on site visits to include availability on nights and weekends, to accommodate physician’s schedule.
  • Provides timely follow up with the physician candidates throughout the recruiting process including the offer, negotiations, relocation, contract signing.
  • Develops strong relationships with physician candidates and effectively maintains contact and communication.
  • Remains current on industry trends and serve as adviser for physician recruiting-related issues and serve as a company representative at various national, regional, and residency meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Other Responsibilities:

  • New Physician On-boarding Management – Complete an on-boarding program with each newly recruited physician; then complete the post on-boarding assessment at 6-8 weeks.
  • Physician-to-Physician Meetings – Schedule face-to-face visit between target physicians and UKHS St Francis Campus Specialist with the objective to advance the sales process for one of the defined key services lines.
  • Office Staff Meetings – Continual contact and support to the office staff of all physicians.
  • Quarterly Office Managers – In coordination with the CFO and BOD, hold a quarterly Office Managers luncheon to cover key topics and learning opportunities for referring physician staff.



Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education and Special Certifications.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years of recruitment experience is preferred
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
  • Experience in budgeting, management, physician manpower studies and exposure to practice start-ups are preferred but not required
